Invited Sessions

The topic of an Invited session should fall within the scope of the congress and address specific, well defined issues. Invited sessions consist of six papers on a specific research subject and are based on personal invitation by the Invited session organizer(s). Contributions to Invited sessions can be either IFAC-standard papers (regular paper of 6-8 pages length) or extended abstracts (short paper of 2-4 pages length, they will not be published in IFAC PapersOnLine, they will only appear in the congress preprints). Invited session organizers need to submit an Invited session proposal.

Submission of Invited Session Proposals

The topic of an Invited session should fall within the scope of the congress and address specific, well defined issues. Invited sessions consist of six papers on a specific research subject and are based on personal invitation by the Invited session organizer(s). Contributions to Invited sessions can be either IFAC-standard papers (regular paper of 6-8 pages length) or extended abstracts (short paper of 2-4 pages length, they will not be published in IFAC PapersOnLine, they will only appear in the congress preprints). Invited session organizers need to submit an Invited session proposal.

Open invited session organizers need to submit an invited session proposal via the papercept system as early as possible and no later than October 15, 2019. It needs to include:

  • the session title,

  • an abstract,

  • the choice of an IFAC technical committee  for the organization of the reviewing process  (via the choice of the first keyword),

  • a detailed description of the topic

  • and the titles, authors with affiliations and abstracts of all contributions.

Organizers obtain upon submission an invited session code that they should distribute to contributors.

Reviewing Process for Invited Sessions

Each paper submitted to an Invited session as well as the session proposal will be individually reviewed. At the discretion of the program committee, individual papers may be removed from a proposed Invited session and placed in the regular program, and appropriate contributed papers may be moved to an Invited session. Likewise, selected papers from a rejected Invited session may be placed into the regular program.

Presentation Formats for Invited Sessions

Invited sessions can be organized in regular sessions or special interactive sessions. While the organizers can propose a specific format, the final decision is up to the program committee.
